After a successful heist earlier this month allowed a masked gunman to make off with $1.5 million dollars worth of casino chips. As you may or may not know, poker chips have no real value outside of the casino. So the 60, $25,000 chips that were stolen are worth no money at all. That is unless he's able to cash them in at the casino's cage.
The first issue with cashing a $25,000 chip is the fact that they rarely give them out, so they take notice on who's cashing / using them. So it will be tough for the gunman to exchange his chips for cash. If that wasn't hard enough the Bellagio said they are nixing the $25,000 chip all together. After April 22, 2011 any and all $25,000 chips will have 0 value. This includes everyone who has earned a legit $25,000 chip. If you have one you will be forced to convert it into cash or take two $10,000 chips and a $5,000 chip.
