First rescue tunnel reaches trapped Chile miners

The first rescue shaft has finally reached the 33 trapped Chilean miners. The miners have been trapped 2300ft under ground since August 5, 2010.

Although the rescue tunnel has made it to the miners experts say that it will take another 1-2 months before the shaft is wide enough to pull the miners out. A couple support shafts have been drilled to provide the miners with food, water, oxygen and electronics like phones.
