Steven Slater The flight attendant who found the most bizarre way to quit his job at JetBlue, made him a hero for millions of disgruntled employees, will go through psychiatric tests as part of a possible plea deal to avoid serving time in jail.
On August 9, 2010 Steven Slater grabbed two beers from the flight attendant cart, opened the airplanes door and slid down the planes emergency slide. He then took off running before he was contained by police. All this was caused by a passenger who hit Steven Slater in the head with his luggage while placing it in the overhead storage bin. The passenger refused to say sorry, and years of torture was unleashed by Steven Slater.
It's been reported that the emergency slide costs 25,000$ to repair, not the mention that the plane was removed from service causing delays for all the passengers.
"We look forward to continuing discussions with the district attorney to see if we can resolve this matter amicably and favorably for Mr. Slater. He's looking to move on with his life, which is why he resigned from JetBlue last week" Steven Slater attorney says.
Steven Slater faces charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing after his actions last month.
If the test come back positive Slater may qualify for an alternative sentencing program that would require community service instead of jail time.
