Prior to Joe Montana being a Pro Football Hall of Famer, Joe Montana was a quarterback for Notre Dame and teammate of Daniel Ruettiger, the motivation for the film Rudy. These days there is a little bit of a controversy over Joe Montana's remarks for the movie.
Joe Montana mentioned on The Dan Patrick Show that nobody was chanting Rudy's name throughout the final football game of Daniel Ruettiger's Notre Dame career, which provided the climax of the movie. Joe also said that when his teammates notoriously transported Ruettiger off the football field on their shoulders, it had been more of a joke than anything else.
Joe Montana said "I won't say it was a joke, but it was playing around,"
Dan Patrick replied to that by stating, "You're ruining it for me,"
Jay Achterhoff told TMZ that the file "Rudy" is "98% true" he also said that he is "disappointed that he wasn't more supportive of Rudy."
Jay Achterhoff said "Rudy was carried off the field that day, but not as a joke but because he finally got to play"
