wow, what a list

goodluck for the project ^_^

2008 would be rock n roll train by AC/DC

Get Gnarls Barkley OUT. And The JXL one.

For 2008, if you're looking for stuff that was really popular, try Rockstar by Nickleback (unfortunately).

1997 was a great year. One of my favorites actually. All that is a lot to take in, but I'll throw out a couple suggestions for the gaps I noticed, and suggest that in my opinion Paul Simon's the Boy in the Bubble was the track of 1986.

97, some highlights (and I'll try to keep it mostly on the radar):
Blur - Beetlebum (though most would say Song 2 from that record)
Built to Spill - I would Hurt a Fly
Elliott Smith - Angeles
Pavement - Transport is Arranged (more might say Shady Lane though)
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Folk Implosion - Insinuation

2005:
Mars Volta - the Widow
Sufjan Stevens - Jacksonville
(hmm, 2005 is kind of tough. not a bad year, but not a ton of songs specifically that jump out)

I guess I would also suggest
2001 - the Shins - Caring is Creepy (or perhaps New Slang)

Ooooh! I like your 1987 and 1988 choices! =D 1991 is good too. OOOh and 1994!! Aerosmith roxx, too!

Here's my list from 1980 ->

1980: Don't have any songs from then:(

1982: run to The Hills - Iron Maiden
1983: Seek And destroy - Metallica
