Insurer swiftcover.com has won the Marketing Initiative of the Year award at the British Insurance Awards 2010, hosted at the Royal Albert Hall.

The insurer’s efforts in advertising were recognised following its successful multi-platform campaign which utilised both traditional and digital elements which saw its brand awareness almost double (up 90%) and its sales soar by 38.5% in 2009.

The firm is the first UK-based online-only insurer, and its innovative Iggy Pop advertising campaign has won it both accolades and sales.

Marketing Director Tina Shortle has expressed delight at the success, especially as the award is granted by peers and key figures from within the insurance industry.

At the same awards Allianz Insurance beat off stiff competition from Fortis, Hiscos and QBE to claim the title of General Insurer of the Year.
